Los Coladeros, Episode 85: La Gran Final
Well then Ultras. What a journey it’s been. We’ve come such long way together, and I don’t just mean the miles we’ve clocked on Chugger. This has been a truly epic journey so far.
Remember our first season when we had Sergio and Adolfo in the D2B3, beat Barcelona B 7–0 thanks to a Lio Tarachalski hat-trick and spent half our time driving back and forth to Catalonia? Or the second, where bloody Valladolid pushed us all the way to the Segunda Division title and I was seriously worried about our first season in La Liga, even though we’d just signed Álvaro Recoba and Alan Shearer? Those were the days, weren’t they? And now, just under five years after I first arrived in Sevilla, hell’s spare room, we’re standing on the precipice of our biggest ever game. The Champions League Final in Vienna against bloody bastard Barcelona.
We still have the small matter of where we’ll finish in the final league table since there are still two games to go. We’ve got Athletic Bilbao at home, then our local rivals Sevilla away, and you can bet your bottom dollar that this little poopypants won’t be playing a single first team player in either of those two matches. As such, here’s how we line up for the visit of Athletic Club; that’s Eldar on the right, remember. He’s our silent assassin.
