It’s a beautiful, sunny November morning in Seville. While weather reports from back home are full of rain, sleet, hail, wind and misery, our Ultras are sporting their finest knock-off sunnies and filtering into La Cartuja for another massive test: CD Tenerife. Fourth in the league, just behind us, the Islanders have got not just a decent squad, but a downright terrifying one. Attacking midfielder Hugo Morales has 12 goals and six assists in 13 games and an average rating of 8.46, which is absolutely insane; striker Bruno Marioni has nine goals and two assists in 11; they’ve got an AML at left back who’s one of the best assisters in the league — behind Jamie Victory, of course — and just to compound my concerns, they play with an expansive, attractive, attacking 3–5–2 formation that I’m not totally sure we’re set up to defend against. The only saving grace is their pretty awful goalkeeper Sergio, who lets in an average of just under three goals per game — and with that, you understand why they aren’t topping the table.

I’m sticking with the 4–1–2–2–1 to start here, since I doubt Tenerife are going to overload us on the flanks in the same way Getafe thought they could — and besides, with Tsigalko alone up front, we basically can’t lose. Daniel Ung is still moaning about having a hard time adjusting to his new diet of meat, cheese and stale bread…
